The reservation technique in hierarchical scheduling algorithm for real-time mixed criticality tasks

Multicore processors are contributing significantly for reinforcing the performance of complex real time embedded systems and advanced high performance systems. In Mixed-critical multi-core systems, research gap exist on identifying requirements of temporal isolation of the tasks for timeliness and migration to improve the utilization. This paper identifies the limitations of the existing priority assignment strategies and proposing new priority assignment strategy in hierarchical task scheduling algorithm with reservation mechanism for multiprocessor real-time system. It is an improved strategy for mixed critical task scheduling using hierarchical framework in large scale multiprocessors. The strong reservation of the computational power for highly critical tasks and permissive migration of the less critical tasks on the general processors facilitate for enhancing real-time support of the mixed critical task system. Considering an example, We analyze impact of limited processors reservation on the response time of high critical tasks during varying workload conditions.
