Monitoring partial discharges in stationary condition monitoring system of furnace transformer

One of the most informative method of high-voltage transformer condition monitoring is detection of partial discharges (PDs). This paper is devoted to study of condition of the ladle furnace transformer equipped with the stationary monitoring system. It considers PD properties measured with electromagnetic detection sensors installed at PIN-outputs of high-voltage inputs. Analysis of the maximum charge and PD intensity resulted in contradictory conclusions about technical condition of inputs included into different phases. It is reasonable to analyze input condition comprehensively based on the total PD properties. Comparing results of PD monitoring before and after repair of transformer confirms complying of its condition with the Norm criterion. It is an evidence of the diagnostic value of partial discharge control in the on-line monitoring systems.
