Experimental results of DVB-T2 passive coherent location radar

In this paper, the preliminary experimental results of the passive bistatic radar (PBR) utilizing transmitter with signals of the second generation digital terrestrial television DVB-T2 standard as an illuminator of opportunity are presented. The PBR was placed at 49.2 km far from illuminator of opportunity. The test detection results are shown for the light aircraft Cessna 172, for unmanned aerial vehicle DJI Phantom 3, for passenger ships running between Saint Petersburg and Valaam Island, for men and for birds. The experimental results are compared with potential characteristics calculated with the bistatic radar equation. The current tasks are outlined.
