Modelling the narrowband base station correlated diversity channel

Based on the assumption of mobile-side isotropic scattering, results are presented hereafter characterizing the correlation among the fading coefficients of the spatial array signature at the base station in the context of a narrowband correlated diversity channel in both Rayleigh and Rician fading. The channel correlation between antenna elements at the base station is given by a lag-delay correlation function (where lag refers to spatial separation) in a two-dimensional, ring of scatterers propagation scenario. Both motion of the mobile and motion of scatterers are accounted for. It is found that correlation in time and correlation in space are coupled phenomena and cannot be separated. A simulation algorithm is proposed based on these correlation functions.
