Smoke Alarm-Analyzer and Site Evacuation System (S.A.A.N.S.)

This proposal provides a novel method of smoke alarm analyzer and site evacuation system. This is an extension of the commonly found Smoke Alarm Systems used in buildings such as Offices, Malls and Airports. We use gas sensors and computer vision to make the device much more effective in helping people evacuate these structures in case of fire. During an incident, this device will optimize the evacuation path in real-time and will guide people out of the building. The device uses a traditional Smoke Detector to detect initial smoke, thus activating the main circuit of the device. A backup power supply is also supplied in case of failure of the main supply, and allowing only necessary electronics to work. MQ-2 sensors installed in each room of the building along with already fitted CCTV cameras in the hallways feed captured images to the computer system at regular intervals. These images provide information about the amount of smoke present in each room, which help the system design an evacuation route using Dijkstra's Shortest Path Algorithm. This is a very low cost device that will help save more lives in case of a fire accident.
