Energy Harvesting for Portable Applications

The following project is an attempt to popularize and implement the use of renewable and alternate sources of energy as opposed to nonrenewable energy sources like fossil fuels and biofuels. This project follows different approaches to harness energy. The first method harnesses solar energy by installing solar cells on an umbrella and using the power generated to charge mobile applications. The power is maximized by using the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method and the principle of perturb and observe. The second method uses the mechanical vibrations generated while walking and converts it into electrical power by using a Faraday generator circuit, and then use this power to charge mobile applications.
