Enhanced cellular systems for cooperative communication in 5G networks

The exciting moments for cellular networks is the currently on-going deployment of fourth generation (4G) networks offering services to customers worldwide. The key asset for users and operators alike is the support 5G networks continue to receive towards improved communication systems. This paper addresses issues of integrated resource scheduling within cellular networks and proposing an improvement of the proportional fairness algorithm (NIPFA) to examine the upcoming 5G networks. The impact of heterogeneity in cellular networks is being evaluated in a scenario combining macro and micro-coverage. Findings show how the versatility of heterogeneous networks help macrocells retain an edge for general-purpose downloading, while microcell produce an appealing solution for viral content.
