Numerical modeling of transmission dynamics of Vector-Borne Plant pathogen

Mathematical modeling of infectious diseases is a tool to understand the mechanism of how disease spreads and how it can be controlled. This paper deals with numerical modeling of transmission dynamics of a Vector-Borne Plant Disease. A novel unconditionally stable Non-Standard Finite Difference (NSFD) numerical scheme is proposed and analyzed to investigate the effect of insect vectors on the spread of plant disease. Numerical investigations are provided and results are compared with standard finite difference schemes being already used to handle such problems. The proposed numerical scheme is dynamically consistent with the biological nature of the continuous model and preserves all of its essential properties. Where well known standard finite difference schemes are conditionally stable and may lose some important features of the continuous dynamical system for certain values of time steps.
