Hybrid optimization setpoint strategy for slab reheating furnace temperature

This paper investigated a hybrid optimization setpoint strategy for slab reheating furnace temperature. Due to the complexity of the process dynamics, the strategy is divided into two parts: steady state zone temperature optimization and its dynamic compensation. Simplex method is adopted in solving the optimization problem and PID regulation and expert experiences are applied to dynamic compensation procedure, the PID compensation method is the dominant means and expert experience modification is the auxiliary means. It has proved that this strategy is effective, saves a lot of fuel and improves the heating quality.
