Differential correlation with a linear antenna array for delay estimation in a CDMA system

In this paper we apply differential correlation — Multiple Signal Classification (DC-MUSIC) algorithm with a linear antenna array for delay estimation in an asynchronous CDMA system. Our analysis shows that the differential correlation matrix has a better structure when it is averaged over the different antennas. This results due to the interference and noise suppression capability of the antenna array. Computer simulation confirms that DC-MUSIC algorithm with multiple antennas provides better performance compared to its single-antenna counterpart. The multiple antenna DC-MUSIC algorithm also shows improved performance over the conventional MUSIC delay estimation algorithm.
