Carrier based space vector modulation for Matrix Converters

Matrix Converter consists of an array of bilateral switches, which are used to directly connect the three phase AC power supply to a load without using any dc-link or large energy storage elements. Modulation techniques used for Matrix Converters were based on the transfer function models developed for the circuit. Carrier based PWM schemes are very popular for voltage source inverters, as they are simple to implement and provides better harmonic profile for the output voltage. On similar lines, this work proposes a carrier based space vector modulation for Matrix Converters based on the indirect transfer function approach. Simulation results are presented and the results are compared with existing widely used scalar modulation techniques for Matrix Converters.
