Optimal switching control strategy for UPFC for wide range of operating conditions in power system

In the context of power systems with UPFC operating over different load conditions, selection of a single optimal UPFC is near impossible. As an alternate, in this paper, switching between different UPFC controllers is proposed, based on three scenarios involving high, low and normal conditions. Scenarios are mathematically modeled for single machine infinite bus (SMIB) and simulation results show improvement over using single controller.
