Design of conformal metamaterial unit cells for invisibility cloaking applications

The advancement in invisibility cloaking application has fascinated many researchers towards the design of different metamaterial unit cells. In this paper, different planar and conformal metamaterial structures have been designed over a wide band of frequency, varying from microwave to terahertz range. The dielectric properties of the designed structures have been extracted using s-parameter retrieval method. Further the extracted dielectric properties of the conformal structures are compared with their corresponding planar one. The results shows that the conformal unit cells exhibits more negative characteristics than planar structures making them more suitable for cloaking applications. Also the effect of radius of curvature on permittivity and permeability of unit cell has been analysed and explained briefly.
