Effect of coupling media on sleeve monopole antenna for breast imaging application

Breast Imaging is a beneficial method of detecting the abnormalities in the breast. In order to enhance the detection process, breast imaging employs a coupling medium between an antenna and the breast. Therefore, it is essential to understand the behavior of the antenna in the coupling medium. In this paper, a sleeve monopole antenna with a top load is taken to cover the frequency band from 500 MHz to 3000 MHz. Coupling media is used to reduce the reflections at air-skin interface. The selected antenna is simulated in coupling media and results are presented in comparison with that of free space with the help of High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS).
