UV excited SnO2 nanowire based printed e-Nose: Potential application as burning smell detector and explosive detector

In this paper a printed e-Nose operated at room temperature with low power, based on UV activated SnO
₂
nanowires is demonstrated. The sensor is more than a conventional gas sensor capable to detect and identify not only gases like Isopropanol, Benzene, CO but also it can be trained to work as burning smell sensor or explosive ingredient sensor. The sensor works in a wide range of relative humidity. For training and subsequent smell recognition, linear discriminant analysis (LDA) has been used.
