Influence of harmonic distortion in current transformer

This study aims to evaluate the performance (accuracy assessment) of current transformers in the presence of harmonic distortion. Using the software ATP-Alternative Transients Program, an equivalent CT circuit model was validated and the simulation results were compared with tests performed in prototypes. From the results obtained it can be concluded that the frequency response of the CT has variations in the transformation ratio error, which decreases with frequency increasing, but keeps within the class of accuracy.
