A nonlinear control method for good dynamic performance elastic drives

This letter presents a nonlinear speed controller for two-mass-model elastic systems. The nonlinear controller is designed to provide a highly damped step response with minimum response time and minimum overshoot. The controller synthesis is carried out in the phase plane. The simulation results indicate the effectiveness of the proposed nonlinear control system.
