Study on optimal power flow in a wind-storage system

In this paper, a power system optimal power flow (OPF) model considering the characteristics of wind power and energy storage is proposed. The model takes the minimum generation costs as the objective function. Especially, the objective function also includes the opportunity cost of wind-storage system. Once the energy storage state is determined, the opportunity cost of wind-storage system is pertinent to the scheduled power output of wind-storage system, including the cost of wind power shortage and the cost of wind power surplus. A self-adaptive evolutionary programming (SAEP) method is employed to solve the OPF model. Finally, taking the IEEE New England test system for example, different simulation scenarios are designed and implemented to demonstrate the validity of the proposed model and optimization strategy.
