Light efficiency of high brightness LED package with nanoparticle-mixed silicone encapsulant

The light efficiency of high brightness LED was improved with TiO
₂
-nanoparticle-mixed encapsulant in this study. Well-dispersed TiO
₂
nanoparticles with size of 2 - 6 nm was synthesized by lowering pH of reaction solution. The well-dispersed TiO
₂
nanoparticles were mixed with encapsulant and the light efficiency of LED was dependent on the dispersion of TiO
₂
. The weight percentages of the TiO
₂
nanoparticles in encapsulant were 0, 5, and 10 wt %. The light efficiency of the LED package increased by 12.4 % when 10 wt% TiO
₂
nanoparticles were mixed with the encapsulant of the LED package.
