Single-layer transmissive phase gradient metasurface with high-efficiency anomalous refraction

A novel transmissive phase gradient metasurface (GPGM) is proposed to obtain high efficiency anomalous refraction. The super-cell of GPGM is constructed from six rotated unit cells having high transmission efficiency. The GPGM can provide the desired adverse phase gradients for left- and right-handed circularly polarized (LCP and RCP, respectively) waves at 15GHz. Therefore, the transmitted waves under normal incident linearly polarized wave are separated into two counter-directionally propagating circularly polarized waves. The simulated refractive power density spectrum is well consistent with the theoretically designed anomalous refraction direction.
