Reflective terahertz optics using 3D-printed metals

3D-printing of metals is investigated as a means to realize reflective terahertz devices. In order to determine its suitability as a potential build material for this purpose, a titanium alloy known as grade-5 titanium is characterized for its terahertz properties. A zone plate composed of this alloy is 3D-printed as a demonstration of reflective terahertz optics, and its performance is experimentally verified. These findings serve as fundamental for 3D-printed solid-metal devices in the terahertz range.
