Improvement of the line-resonance-analysis with several mathematical-detection-algorithms and filters

Though Line-Resonance-Analysis (LIRA) is still controversially discussed by cable-diagnostic experts, LIRA seems to have certain advantages. One of them is that the method gives a spatial resolution along the cable length and allows detection of small changes in its cable conditions locally. Resolution and discontinuity at this point are not only depending on the failure. LIRA hence detects a change in the cable condition locally by a change in the cable. The resolution of the spatial detection is still limited by the detection algorithms (FFT/CZT), filters and further signal analysis. Due to limited knowledge and experience in academia, more detailed investigations are required for a profound discussion about its feasibility to reliably detect failures. Recently presented publications of a possible detection algorithm should be analyzed in greater detail. The algorithms presented there are still limited in their resolution due to different cable failure conditions, attenuation and the frequency range. In this work the focus is on the pre-processing of the measured or simulated signal before LIRA investigates the signal. The processing includes a bias filter, compensation of the attenuation and investigations pertaining to this.
