Au/CdS/ITO/glass layered structure studies for CdS/CdTe solar cell manufacturing

We studied the magnetron sputtered layered structure CdS/ITO/glass with deposited ultrathin gold film of different thickness. The structure formation conditions are explained in details. Morphology and optical properties of the structure were investigated before and after annealing in air atmosphere. The annealing leads to top film deterioration and significant change in transmission spectra of the structure. The interference nature of transmission spectra is discussed and conclusions about possibility of application of the approach to CdS/CdTe solar cell with embedded gold nanoparticles formation are made.
