Non-invasive fetus heart rate and growth measurement with abnormality detection using IoT

Infant mortality is an important area of study in both medical research and engineering perspective. For mitigating the miserable conditions of infant mortality, we are proposing a methodology that could help the pregnant women to check her vital medical status and for her fetus on her own without having much effort. To do so we believe that with help of advances in networking and computing, and android mobile application which is built as a support, we would be able to match the detected heart rate of user with database which we create from readings obtained from the maternity centers. The database would include the normal and abnormal fetus heart rate in maternal period ranging from 5

week to last week of pregnancy. A pattern matching is performed with the data between user and database, if a match is detected then suitable message is generated. If any pattern other than normal pattern is received, an alert is generated along with the sending of obtained packets to the doctor for further diagnosis. To compute the abnormality of fetus heart rate during maternal period in user's handheld devices like Smartphone there is no need for separate infrastructure for monitoring mother and fetus. We use a Bluetooth module in order to transfer the vital parameters like pulse rate, fetal heart rate and blood pressure to the user's handheld devices. Thus, detection of abnormality in early stage will make sure that healthcare is reached in time and the newborn would not be affected. This user friendly arrangement drastically reduces the stress for the mother as a portable health check up is available to her.
