BER versus BSNR analysis of conventional IDMA and OFDM-IDMA based systems with tree interleaving

Interleaving is a very popular approach most often employed to control the group errors and minimizing multi-user interference in advanced communication systems. This may also serve as a mean for making the users distinguishable on a communication network. Conventional interleave division multiple access i.e. CIDMA and integrated IDMA i.e. IIDMA based systems utilize the process of interleaving as key feature in their operations. This paper presents the performance analysis of CIDMA and IIDMA based systems in terms of bit-error rate (BER) and corresponding bit energy-to-noise ratio i.e. bit-SNR (BSNR). Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing combined with interleave-division multiple-access i.e. OFDM-IDMA has been taken into consideration as a type of IIDMA for this performance analysis. In both of the presented cases tree interleaving has been used as a mean for user separation.
