A Navigation system for rescue operation during disaster management using LTE advanced network and WPAN

Disasters either natural or manmade, is a part of our everyday life and no measures can eliminate the occurrence. But, unpreparedness and unawareness of these disasters enhance the severity of damages and cause the loss of human lives. So after the occurrence of the disaster, it requires all out efforts for rescue operation of the lives trapped or lost. When a person gets trapped in an unknown place, it is hard to pinpoint his location to rescue him. As a result, the rescuer may need huge amount of resources, energy and time to locate the victim which may result in serious injury or even death. In this paper, we have proposed navigation of rescuers to locate a victim during rescue operation by establishing a network which can be initiated either by the victim or by the rescuer. During disaster, mobile network can either be in service or terminated temporarily. So, the proposed system utilizes D2D communication under LTE technology in presence of network; and in failure of mobile network, it will deploy ZigBee under WPAN technology. Simulations performed indicate minimal time required locating victim to rescue in a fastest way with or without the service of mobile operator.
