Systematic optimization of Laser-based Additive Manufacturing for multiple mechanical properties

Despite the recent advances in laser-based additive manufacturing technologies, quality of the functional parts is still an important challenge. Depending on different quality requirements in various Laser-based Additive Manufacturing applications (biomedical, aerospace, automotive etc.), fabricated parts should meet different requirements of mechanical properties. Most of the existing studies aimed to obtain the optimal process parameters for each specific application, resulting in repetitive experiments and the delay of material certification. Optimizing a given material for various potential applications is a major challenge due to high experimental costs. The proposed methodology, systematically designs sequential experiments to achieve the multiple sets optimal process parameters associated with a specific material and machine system simultaneously for different requirements of mechanical properties in holistic manner.
