Joint analysis of connectivity and hidden-terminal effects for network topology in WSNs

Both network connectivity and hidden terminal effects play a significant role in topology design of wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we present a joint analysis of the two issues. Lots of simulation studies are carried out to investigate the effects of network scale and transmitting range on the two issues. Based on the simulation results, we propose a reasonable and suitable empirical formula to determine the optimized topology parameters, which can make hidden-pair ratio as small as possible while ensuring the network connectivity.
