The application of remote sensing technology in opencast soil moisture inversion

With the rapid development of China's economy, there is a rapid increase in demand for mineral resources, and a growing strength of mineral resources development, it will inevitably lead to many environmental problems such as geological environmental disasters, air pollution, etc. Mining environmental issues increasingly become the focus of attention. Soil moisture is one of the key indicators to monitor soil quality of mining area. It is a sensitive indicator of the health factors of the ecological environment and particularly of great importance in land reclamation of mining area. With the development of remote sensing technology, RS has been widely used in mine monitoring. RS can be used effectively in real-time, dynamic, large-scale soil moisture monitoring, it's of great significance to environmental protection and remediation. In this paper, four scenes of Landsat remote sensing images have been selected to make remote sensing quantitative analysis of soil moisture in Nanfen, Benxi City, Liaoning Province, an open-air iron mine Nanfen Opencast. Four images' time series were May 18, 2002, May 29, 2006, June 25, 2010, June 4, 2014. The soil moisture temporal and spatial variation features of Nanfen Opencast have been reflected by The SMMI (soil moisture monitoring index) index basing on SWIR-Nir feature space from 2002 to 2014. The NDVI index has been used to verify the soil moisture result. The result provided a basis for the study of environment monitoring in Nanfen Opencast, and provided a scientific basis for decision making of economic development and environmental protection in this region.
