A novel dual-band antenna for WLAN application

With the rapid development of the wireless communication technologies during the last decades, the use of small portable devices leading to a highly integrated RF circuit for WLAN systems and to a need of broadband for small portable devices. This trend imposes the design of minimized and multiband antennas for WLAN communications, such as WIFI, Bluetooth, ZigBee. A novel dual band antenna for WLAN system is designed in this paper. The antenna is operating for 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands. The shorting circuit technology is used for the miniaturization of antenna and the slot of L shape for generating of dual bands. The antenna is modeled by CST software and the result shows that both 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz can meet the requirement of WLAN system.
