A review to different approaches used for Devanagari characters segmentation

The character segmentation is the process of partitioning the digital image into something that is easier to scrutinize. The digital cameras are gaining popularity and hence the computational significance is also increasing. The presence of upper and lower modifiers, header line, various structural properties, and dissimilar writing styles makes the segmentation of Devanagari character a challenging task. More attention is required for the segmentation of this script due to its widespread usage. Segmentation of Devanagari character has been done by various techniques but the success rate is temperate. In this paper, various techniques that have been already used for segmentation and a comparative study of these techniques are discussed.
