A novel structure and design optimization of miniaturized UWB slot antenna

In this work, a novel structure and design optimization procedure of a miniaturized ultra-wideband (UWB) slot antenna is presented. A very small footprint of the structure (161 mm
²
) has been achieved by introducing sufficient number of degrees of freedom, including the parameterized multi-section slot and a multi-section load of the feed line, as well as efficient numerical optimization of all geometry dimensions of the structure. The optimization task involved explicit size reduction of the antenna with electrical performance parameters (here, a reflection response) controlled by suitably defined constraints. The final design has been verified through full-wave EM simulation.
