An object-oriented operation system configuration for local optical fiber networks

Operation systems need to be introduced into local optical fiber networks to rapidly respond to diversifying service demands and operation requirements. This paper deals with the introduction of object-oriented technologies for local optical fiber network operation systems. The proposed object-oriented system modeling will permit the most efficient establishment and management of local optical fiber networks. First, this paper briefly describes the basic configuration of local optical fiber networks and supporting operation systems. Next, functional assignments between operation systems are descdbed in terms of their "management domains", the latter being a concept found within the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) management framework developed in ISO. Finally, a mechanism that maintains the consistency of managed objects between various management domains is explained.
