Copper drop bandwidth capabilities

This paper discusses bandwidth capabilities for existing telco drop and in-home twisted pair copper wiring. Bandwidth, group delay, cross-talk and EMI were measured in the DC-100 MHz range both in the lab and in the field. The results are applicable for broadband upgrades for Fiber-to-the-Curb systems. Service delivery options that result from this work are discussed, with particular emphasis on low cost transmission options, rather than ultimate information capacity.
