Value added fax network resources and services

First, this paper provides a presentation of Fax Value Added Services. Customer interfaces are described and discussed. Then an overview of the architecture of the France Telecom system and a description of the principles of call establishment is provided. The next part describes each sub-system and their main technical characteristics. FPAD performance and fax transmission on X.25 peculiarities are discussed. The last part proposes foreseeable paths for future evolution of Fax VAS, and the relative evolution of the dedicated equipments.
