Interfero-polarimetric fiber optic sensor for both pressure and temperature measurement

A compact pressure sensor head with fiber optic temperature compensation has been built and tested which uses specific side-hole and "bow-tie" fibers respectively devoted to pressure and temperature measurements. The addressing scheme is based on the broad band interferometry technique. We describe the sensor arrangement and present the response curves for pressure and temperature in the ranges 0.1 to 1 MPa and 0 to 40 /spl deg/C.
