Performance study of cache based multiprocessor designs

Multiprocessor system are envisaged for use in applications requiring high computing power, fault tolerance, and time critical areas. Designs of such system are qualified using modeling and simulations. The development of an analytical model for a cache based multiprocessor system is presented in this paper. The system behaviour is approximated with a semi-Markov process, and using the model, various performance measures are found out. The results are compared with simulations.
