Digital flight control - scenario for the 90's

In the last decade, considerable progress has been made in the sphere of aircraft control. The arrival of powerful and reliable microprocessors has encouraged their usage for the Implementation of different control laws. Those processors are configured redundantly to achieve a high degree of reliability for fall-safe operation. This paper highlights the evolation of the concept of digital flight control, a few case studies, as well as Issues Involved in the design of such a system . Mention of some of the contemporary implementations and prospects for the future is also made.
