Boundary tracing technique for convex and concave curves

The proposed algorithm is designed to detect the boundary of a region which can be identified by some characteristic feature at a general level, but heterogeneity within the region itself prevents the use of standard gradient techniques. The general principle of the algorithm is based on inner boundary tracing and involves three techniques- Technique of Tracing, Technique for Convex Turns and Technique for Concave Turns. The algorithm gives good results for regions of any regular or irregular shape irrespective of whether it is convex or concave or combination of both. It also gives good results for blurred images and for images affected by noise. The utility of the algorithm lies in its simplicity, making it computationally efficient.
