Environmental qualification tests for Wireless Sensor Networking nodes

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) have been introduced in nuclear reactor environment to monitor and measure the plant parameters. For the deployment in this environment, WSN nodes should be rugged, able to withstand high temperature, humidity, radiation etc. As per the international standard, the nodes will be subjected to various qualification tests namely Electromagnetic Interference and Compatibility (EMI/EMC) tests, Environmental and Seismic Qualification tests. Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) is involved in the design and development of WSN Nodes. This paper describes briefly about the design and development of WSN nodes, measures taken for qualification of nodes, Environmental qualification tests done and the test results.
