Eigenmode Prediction of High RF Exposure Frequency Region Inside Vehicles

An RF exposure of a vehicle's crew is discussed and a fast modeling approach for prediction thereof is demonstrated. The modeling is based on eigenmode analysis for acquiring a range of frequencies where the shielding effectiveness of a vehicle cabin is expected to be significantly worsened. Clear correlation between the positions of eigenfrequencies and high RF exposure peaks obtained by a full-wave analysis is demonstrated. It is shown that cavity resonance behavior may cause consistent overexposure of vehicle's crew compared to the outside people. It is also seen that at lower end very high frequency communication or jamming system can easily violate the Federal Communications Commission set limit for RF exposure.
