Characteristics and methods for automatic online configuration of reduced complexity Viterbi algorithms

We explore the performance of four reduced complexity Viterbi like algorithms over four practical decimated ISI channels. The bit error rate performance results allows us to determine which algorithms are suited to specific channel classes and consider possible online configuration and selection processes.
