Monolithically integrated low-cost 10Gb/s tuneable transmitter using a slotted Fabry-Pérot laser

We demonstrate a tuneable transmitter module consisting of a slotted Fabry-Pérot laser which addresses each 50GHz channel in upper half of the ITU-T C-band, monolithically integrated with an electroabsorption modulator achieving a data rate of 10Gb/s with a 2V peak-to-peak driving voltage along with an integrated SOA providing a 20dB gain control range of the optical output power, for potential use in Optical Network Units (ONUs) for data transmission in the upstream direction from a consumer's premises.
