Predictive-fixed switching frequency technique for 5-phase induction motor drives

This paper presents an enhanced predictive current control technique with fixed switching frequency applied to the 5-phase induction drives. This approach accurately predicts the required duty ratio for the PWM pulse for a given current reference in each digital time step using the vector space decomposition theory. The pulse width is calculated from an optimization process. The new scheme is compared with the standard model predictive control, where the switching frequency is variable. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is evaluated through simulations.
