Analysis of Variable Voltage Gain Power Converter for Switched Reluctance Motor

This paper presents a novel active boost power converter with simple structure and real-time control of the demagnetization voltage. This converter uses demagnetization energy and an active power device to realize the real-time control of the demagnetization voltage, which further reduces torque ripple operation of switched reluctance motors. This converter only contains an insulated-gate bipolar transistor and a diode in each phase winding, which simplifies the converter structure. The influence of the demagnetization voltage on the negative torque is analyzed and calculated. Combing this calculation and instantaneous torque control, the switched reluctance motor drive system is constructed based on this novel converter. The experimental results show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed converter.
