Linear Control of Magneto-Electric Effect With Small Electric Fields

Due to the rapid development of smart sensor networks, sensitive methods for linear conversion of mechanical, electric and magnetic fields are the focus of much research. Aimed at sensors for smart grid, smart architectures, vehicles, and healthcare, this letter explores the linear control of the magneto-electric effect with small electric fields (0 to 24 kV/cm). The study involved modeling and simulation of electric-field-controlled linear magneto-electric effect, materials calculations, and device design optimization including magnetic field sensor positioning and bias magnetic fields. To evaluate the performance, the sensing span, sensitivity, and linearity are considered.
