Optimization of motor heat dissipation systems based on three dimensional flow field analysis

Thermal management is the core technology of a modern motor with high efficiency, high power density and high reliability. This paper presents a set of models and an experiment platform for the analysis of wind fields and temperature fields in a high power permanent magnet motor with a closed heat dissipation structure. The three-dimensional temperature field and flow field were estimated by simulation. Based on the quantitative analysis of heat dissipation and temperature field, a method for studying the thermal dissipation of motor is designed. Then we put forward some suggestions in the optimization of heat dissipation of motors. At last, the simulation results were validated through the acquired data of the internal flow field and temperature field of the prototype by the PIV technology and thermocouples.
