Innovating RFID for Future Applications: A Capacitive Coupled Antenna Design for UHF RFID Application

The developed antenna design is not an improvement of the AK5 tag but rather a new approach that changes the application of the tag from a near-field to a far-field product. The approximate 400% increase in area with this new far-field antenna may not allow operation with previously defined near-field applications, but it does extend the application spectrum and allows the use of the same RFID chip infrastructure.
