Dual band notched antenna with S-slot for ultra wide band applications

This paper proposes a dual band notched antenna which works for ultra-wide band applications. The antenna consists a square radiating patch with a wide S-slot and a modified U shaped slot and this antenna provide wide usable fractional bandwidth of more than 123% (2.91−12.17 GHz). Single band notched function is achieved by cutting S shaped slot and dual band notched function is achieved by cutting modified U slot and by boat shaped structure extra resonance is excited and much wider bandwidth is achieved. The measured results show that antenna covers WLAN (5.15–5.85 GHz) and WiMax (3.3–3.6 GHz) with dual band notched function.
