Cancellation of Specular Reflection by Shadow Radiation

Interference of the specular reflection and the shadow radiation is analyzed in the field scattered by a rectangular cylinder located on an infinite plane. It is shown that the shadow radiation can completely cancel the specular reflection from the cylinder for certain frequencies of the incident wave.
